Weylandt’s Furniture Store – Cape Town
When Edgar Weylandt opened his furniture store in 1964 in Windhoek, Namibia, he could not have foreseen that his brainchild would grow into a national retailer with branches in South Africa and Namibia.
Edgar’s son, Chris Weylandt, was the catalyst for this phenomenal growth. After qualifying as a CA, Chris worked in the family business in Namibia during the early nineties. He then relocated to South Africa to set up a manufacturing plant in Cape Town. In 1999 he opened the first Weylandts Homestore in Durbanville.
The store was an instant success, and in the new millennium more Weylandts stores opened in Green Point, Knysna, Fourways, Swakopmund, Windhoek, Menlyn and Umhlanga Ridge. The Weylandts name rapidly became synonymous with quality contemporary furniture and innovative designs. was invited to furnish the prestigious opening of CNBC in South Africa and sponsored the reality TV show Big Brother, as well as the much-anticipated House of the Year Awards.
Today, Weylandts is firmly established as the leading furniture and décor retailer in southern Africa, offering clients contemporary quality designs sourced from around the world and showcased in a beautiful environment where space and natural light enhance the inspirational merchandising.
