I was just thinking about what I would blog about today and decided to take a look through my photo library and couldn’t believe that I have never blogged about “The Shop at Bluebird”.
This store is amazing the was launched back in 2005 and trades from an iconic Art Deco building on the Kings Road in London. It is very much an ever evolving concept store, selling everything from designer women’s wear, menswear and accessories through to furniture, home accessories, gifts, books and music. They even have a Spa and Beauty area which was added in 2007.
The shop marks a return to the spirit of the Kings Road in the Sixties and Seventies, when the area was a melting pot of styles and fashions. Stock is constantly changing, as is the retail space, which is large enough to accommodate exhibitions and performance art, you can even hire the whole shop out for private functions.
I love this store because every time I go there its different, they are constantly changing and evolving the space which makes it feel fresh and exciting. I also like the fact that they don’t really have a shop fit, they have a really good space which is contemporary and simple in appearance just like a blank canvas and they paint the store with fixtures and fittings most of which are recycled and up-cycled.
I really wish more stores were like this and realised that people want to be inspired and entertained when they visit a store and don’t want to see the same thing every time.
So my challenge to anyone who owns a store is to be brave and regularly reinvent your space, it doesn’t have to cost the earth as this store proves, it just takes vision and enthusiasm.
I have so many great photos of this store I can’t show them all but here are a selection from my library.
They also have a pop up store space which is currently housing Carven
