Balgove Larder – near St Andrews Scotland
On a recent trip to St Andrews in Scotland we came accross the recently established Balgove Larder.
It results from the dream of businessman and food lover Will Docker, and is already proving to be a huge attraction for residents, visitors, and the town’s large student population. The concept of building a quality farm shop brand was born in the summer of 2009 to cater for the apparent niche in the St Andrews market and to help generate a greater interest in locally grown, and sourced, seasonal produce.
The buildings, which had served numerous roles including a dairy, grain store and cattle shed, were deteriorating to the extent that they needed to be developed or demolished, the impressive conversion incorporates as much environmentally responsible thinking as possible.

Bluebell and Co Brighton
Whilst wandering through the amazing north lanes in Brighton last week I came across this fab store.
Owner Kate Powell has created a wonderful light, bright store, not only full of great products but full of inspirational visual ideas.
Here is some information about Kate and her store taken from her website.
Founder Kate Powell was inspired by the new products and brands that she developed and launched in her 20 year buying and design career, and wanted to combine her experience and passion into her own venture, Bluebelle and Co.
Dedicated to unique and vintage inspired products, Bluebelle is a thoughtfully edited collection of women’s accessories and sleepwear, homeware, babywear, children’s clothing, toys and gifts. A one stop shop where you’re able to buy something lovely for yourself, your mum, your son or your daughter.
Since the launch of our website , we’ve now opened our flagship store, a stones throw away from sunny Brighton station.
Here are a selection of photos from her store
Sourced Market
As you will probably know a few years ago St Pancras station was transformed from a crumbly dated wreck into one of the most beautiful stations in the world.
It is also now a great shopping destination and is packed full of the usual high St fare but there are a few independent gems hidden away; one such store is called Sourced Market.
It`s a deli come mini market they believe in championing small, local producers and helping to make their produce available to everyone at a fair price.
They source responsibly and respect the seasons. Most importantly they are independent and like working with independent producers.
Not only does all this sound fab but the store design is great to take a look.

Wondrous Crates
As you know we champion recycling, renewing and reinventing on this blog.
One of the most versatile things to use for all three  is the good old crate be it Apple, wine or bottle. Crates come in all shapes, sizes and ages and have been used by retailers for years.
Here are some great examples of what people have done with them.
